質的研究法/Qualitative Research Methods 2021
- 感染防止対策の一環として、10人の人数制限を設けてのコロナ禍での授業となりました。様々な制限がありつつも 、メンバー全員が質的研究法を用いて面白い研究プロジェクトを実施しました。
- We needed to have a class downsized to a maximum of 10 due to COVID 19, but it actually worked out well for us. At the end of the semester, all members came up with an interesting research project.

It was a valuable course that I participated. Sensei's in-depth knowledge about QRM focused on different methods and their applicability, which helped me realize the broad scope of QRM. Group discussion in every class and engagement of sensei made it more interactive and fruitful. The course contents covered were applicable in our future professional career, too. Interview, observation, and case studies are all significant at their own pace. I learned the fundamentals of QRM. (Student from Nepal)
At the end of the course, if I evaluate what I learn, the answer will be, I learn all qualitative research tools very well as well as their application. The final assignment was an excellent task to conduct qualitative research. Teaching techniques, class plan, practice in a group, class material every element was very attractive and highly appreciable. Besides the QRM course, I learned class conducting techniques also which could be applicable to my profession. Sensei's teaching with smiling face, cordiality, priority to student's opinion, excellent lecture delivery, cool teaching method will remain ever fresh in my memory. My humble respect and gratitude to sensei and love to my fellow classmates. We will miss your class and guidance. (Student from Bangladesh)
This class was very helpful for me. I learned the basics of qualitative research methods, such as interviews, observation, and case studies. One of the best parts of this class was that we had the opportunity to use what we had learned in real life in addition to the theoretical knowledge. The theoretical knowledge was consolidated by practical application. I enjoyed every observation that I made because it was a pleasure to notice all the previously invisible things. (Student from Kirgiz Republic)
I would like to say my gratitude to you for your interesting and knowledgeable lectures. You guided all of us from the basics of the qualitative research methods with your precious experiences. I got points about what is the best qualitative research method for my research and some ethics of each method through your lecture. Your clear guidance makes me more confident in not only my master thesis but also future research in my workplace. (Student from Myanmar)
Your teaching approach is being cool, speak slowly with no rush, always smile and responded to students’ questions/comments clearly. I think the importance of this course is the knowledge learned on the various qualitative research methods such as interview, observation, ethnography, case study, and narrative inquiry. What I like about this course is the application part in which we were tasked to do hands-on experience on different topics. The best part was actually conducting the hands-on research and presenting what had been found like my recent presentation on the pet culture here in Japan. I learned a lot from that experience. The knowledge and skills learned will definitely help me in my research thesis and also at work back in my country. (Student from Solomon Islands)
Interview, observation, case study, and ethnography were all new to me, and I learned many aspects of these qualitative research methods in this class. The group discussions and the assignments you gave us helped me get much more practical knowledge in this field. In my master's thesis, I am planning to apply a qualitative approach and I am very sure the knowledge I got in this class will help me conduct my research. Also, I got the opportunity to interact with my friends and become closer to them, which helped me know many things about their culture, tradition, and way of thinking. The knowledge and experiences I gained from this class are priceless for me and I am very much sure this will help me a lot in my professional career, too. I want to thank Sensei for sharing her expertise with us and enlightening us in the field of qualitative research. (Student from Nepal)
